Crash Details
The aircraft was a Cessna 421C, a twin-engine plane. Flight tracking data shows that while cruising at 17,400 feet, the aircraft entered a sudden and rapid descent, dropping over 5,000 feet per minute before disappearing from radar.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA are currently investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary reports suggest the aircraft hit the ground at a high rate of speed, and a post-impact fire broke out shortly after. While the investigation is ongoing, authorities are examining the role of mechanical performance and regional weather conditions at the time of the flight.
