Tragic Parking Accident Claims the Life of Boise Woman
A routine attempt to park a vehicle ended in tragedy when an elderly man accidentally struck his passenger, resulting in her death. The Ada County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the victim as Winona Johnson, an 87-year-old resident of Boise.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The accident occurred as the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck, a 90-year-old male, was attempting to maneuver the vehicle into a parking space. According to investigators:
- Winona Johnson was standing directly in front of the truck to assist the driver with parking.
- The driver intended to shift the vehicle into reverse to back into the spot.
- By mistake, the driver engaged the forward gear and accelerated into the victim.
- Following the impact, Johnson was rushed to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Coroner and Investigation Findings
The Ada County Coroner’s Office conducted a preliminary review and determined that the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
