Glenmont, NY 19-year-old Delmar resident tragically lost his life on Monday following a collision at a major Glenmont intersection. The victim, identified by Bethlehem Police as Mason Ruggaber, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash involving his motorcycle and an SUV.
The fatal incident occurred on April 27, 2026, at the busy junction of Route 9W and Magee Drive. According to a preliminary investigation, the collision took place when an SUV traveling southbound on Route 9W struck Ruggaber’s northbound motorcycle.
The driver of the SUV, 53-year-old Eric Thompson of Glenmont, was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital. Authorities confirmed his injuries were non-life-threatening.
Bethlehem Police Department officers and crash reconstruction specialists spent much of Monday afternoon at the site to determine the contributing factors behind the tragedy. While the investigation remains ongoing, police noted that all parties involved are cooperating with the process.
