On Sunday morning, May 3, 2026, a light two-seat helicopter crashed into a wooded area in Samut Prakan province, triggering an emergency response from local police and rescue teams.

The Incident

The aircraft, identified as a Guimbal Cabri G2, took off at approximately 08:30 AM from a private landing area behind a factory in the Thai Ban subdistrict. It was reportedly bound for another facility in Chonburi.

According to Pol. Capt. Jakkrit Srirotchanakul, superintendent of the Mueang Samut Prakan Police Station, the helicopter had only climbed to a height of about 10 meters when it suffered a technical fault. The pilot attempted an emergency landing in a dense thicket just 30 meters from the lift-off point. During the impact, the helicopter’s rotors struck tall grass, which ignited a fire around the engine.

The Rescue and Injuries

Emergency responders from the Prakan rescue center and firefighters reached the site, which was difficult to access due to the thick undergrowth. Crews had to run long hoses through the brush to extinguish the flames, a task that took roughly 30 minutes.

The two occupants—identified as the pilot and a mechanic—managed to exit the aircraft safely before the fire spread. They were reported to have sustained only minor injuries and were given medical attention on-site.
