Silver Falls State Park, OR Oregon State Police have released the identity of the young man killed in a high-speed accident south of Silver Falls State Park earlier this week. The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Adrian Ramos Monroy, a resident of Salem.

Details of the Collision

The fatal incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 29, at approximately 1:48 a.m.. According to investigators, Monroy was traveling southbound on Highway 214 near milepost 22.

Police reports indicate that the vehicle, a Subaru WRX, was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when it suddenly veered off the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation. After leaving the pavement, the car struck a tree and plummeted down an embankment before catching fire.

Emergency Response and Casualties

Tragically, Adrian Ramos Monroy was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 24-year-old woman also from Salem, survived the initial impact but sustained severe injuries. Due to the critical nature of her condition, she was airlifted to a regional hospital via Life Flight.

Investigation and Traffic Impact

The aftermath of the crash necessitated a lengthy closure of Highway 214, which remained shut down for approximately five hours while crews cleared the wreckage and investigators processed the scene. Oregon State Police are continuing to look into the factors that led to the vehicle leaving the road.
