SPENCER CO, Ind Late Monday night, Indiana State Police began an investigation into a fatal collision in Spencer County. Emergency responders, including state troopers and local deputies, arrived at the scene on S.R. 162, just north of S.R. 62 and west of Saint Meinrad, at approximately 8:20 p.m.
Crash Details
Preliminary findings indicate that Amber Gogel(37) of Dale was traveling northbound in a Chevrolet SUV. For reasons still under investigation, her vehicle veered into the southbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle.
Casualties and Notifications
Authorities confirmed that Amber Gogel did not survive the impact. The driver of the second vehicle sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. State police have notified the next of kin, and a medical examiner has scheduled an autopsy for Wednesday morning.
